The Artist

Van Senja also known by Fews names such as Pande and Apel, live on the small island of Nusa Penida, Bali, Indonesia. Growing up surrounded by the raw beauty of the island shaped his sensitivity toward art and storytelling.

After finishing elementary school, Heryana began to fall deeply into the world of art. Without following a conventional path, he slowly built his own creative journey. For more than fifteen years, photography became his main way of living and expressing how he sees the world. Through the camera, he captured everyday moments, human emotions, and the quiet poetry of life.

But photography was only one part of his artistic voice.

Music had always been present in the background of his life. Influenced by alternative folk sounds and the habit of listening to songs repeatedly until they lived inside his head, he eventually felt the need to release those thoughts into music.

Today, Pande Heryana continues his creative journey through a music project called Van Senja. The project reflects his raw and honest approach to songwriting—simple words, personal reflections, and melodies that grow naturally from whatever lives in his mind.

For him, art is not about perfection.

It is about letting thoughts, memories, and feelings find their own way out.

Through photography and music, Pande Heryana continues to explore life—quietly turning everyday experiences into stories.
